This 4 week class consists of 4 live webinars, plus a checklist of homework tasks to do each week. The webinars will be recorded, so if you can't make the live session, you can watch the recording at a time that works for you. All registrants will have access to the recordings for at least one year following the class. Classes are held on Tuesdays from noon to 2pm PST.

The program also contains two optional online labs where you may showcase your work, ask the instructor direct questions about your projects and receive input and feedback from your peers. Labs are held on Saturday from 10am to noon PST.

You will have direct access to the instructor via email to ask questions along the way while you are working on your tasks.

Program Schedule:

All webinars are held on Tuesdays from noon to 2pm PST. Webinars are recorded so that you can watch (or re-watch) them at a time that works best with your schedule.

Webinar One: Pick your platform

There are as many paths to publications as there are authors. How do you know which path is right for you? In this session, we’ll explore the new evolutions in traditional, indie and hybrid publishing. We’ll talk about the pros and cons of various approaches and how you may utilize one or many methods of publishing to achieve your publishing goals.

We will also review the pros and cons of different platforms such as Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing and CreateSpace, BookBub, Smashwords, Lulu, Blurb, GooglePlay and Barnes and Nobles' Nook.

If you have questions about ISBNs, ebook versus print, imprint and more, you'll find your answers here.

Saturday Lab #1: Project check-ins (optional)

Want more personal help and advice for your project? Use this time to ask questions, see more examples and hear how other authors are solving the same issues you may encounter.

Webinar Two: Prepare your manuscript: Editing

Learn the exact steps you need to take to prepare your manuscript draft for the design process. We'll talk about how much editing you can do on your own, how to find and work with professional editors and which kind of editing you actually need. We'll review different strategies for different budgets.

Webinar Three: Build your book: Interior and cover design

This week, we'll look at what tools are available for you to build your book. You'll be introduced to software and services created for a wide range of design abilities, including Scrivener, Vellum, InDesign and even Word.

You likely know that your book cover can make or break first impressions. You'll learn how to find high-quality graphics for your cover design, plus resources for finding brilliant designers for every budget level. Discover which common mistakes you can easily avoid to help your book stand out on the shelf.

Saturday Lab #2: Prepare to launch! (optional)

At this point, your book should be looking pretty good. Perhaps some questions have popped up! We'll use this lab showcase participant accomplishments, wrap up any final questions you have and go over last minute tips and preparations for book launch.

Webinar Four: Book launch strategies and marketing best practices

We'll discuss how reader reviews help your book achieve visibility and how to get them. To help you on your way, you'll also receive an overview of marketing best practices and a glut of resources for support.
